Report: Spurs might miss out on 23-year-old wanted by Pochettino

Tottenham sent out a massive statement last week by signing Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for a club record fee, and reports indicate that more signing are likely to follow with Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos being linked with a loan move.

However, Spurs might miss out on Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who is said to have been one of Pochettino’s prime targets this summer.

Sky Sports reported a few days ago that negotiations between Tottenham and Real Betis had stalled as the clubs could not agree on a fee for the 23-year-old midfielder.

The report claims that Betis want £70m for the Argentina international.

Further, it has been reported that a move for Lo Celso is dependent on Christian Eriksen’s potentially sale to Real Madrid (El Confidencial).

However, a report in The Mirror suggests that Madrid are still keen on Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and are even willing to offer both Isco and Gareth Bale in exchange for the Frenchman.

So, if Eriksen doesn’t get his move to Madrid, it is unlikely that the club will bring in Lo Celso this summer.

While Lo Celso will bring a lot to the Spurs side, most Spurs fans would probably be happy if Eriksen were to stay. He might not have been at his best last season but he is still one of the best playmakers in world football.
