Report: Spurs named as favourites to land experienced attacker this summer

Tottenham have been named as favourites to land Chelsea star Willian this summer, with the winger’s contract with the Blues set to run out at the end of the season.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo report that Spurs have moved ahead of Barcelona in the race for the Brazilian after the Catalan giants turned their attention to bringing Neymar back from PSG and landing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

A recent report in the Daily Mail claimed that Spurs are expected to offer Willian a two-year contract in the summer in the hope that they can convince him to make a switch to North London.

Football Insider claimed that Daniel Levy is prepared to move early to strike a deal for the 31-year-old and is prepared to offer him a pay-rise.

The report in Mundo Deportivo now asserts that all signs point to Willian signing a contract with Tottenham to reunite with Jose Mourinho.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see Willian being a decent option to bring on from the bench, particularly in games that are stretched. We are fairly well stocked in wide/attacking areas with the likes of Son, Lucas, Bergwijn, Lamela and Sessegnon but if this season’s injury crisis has thought us anything, it is that we can never have too many options.
