Report: Spurs named as one of two suitors for Japan international star

According to a report in Bild, Tottenham Hotspur could be set to reignite their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada in January.

Spurs are thought to be in the market for an attacking midfielder in January, with the likes of Weston McKennie (Ben Jacobs), Ruslan Malinovskyi (Corriere Bergamo), Franck Kessie (Sport) and Mohammed Kudus (Calciomercato.it) being mooted as potential targets over recent weeks.

Another player who was previously thought to be on Tottenham’s radar is Kamada, with The Daily Express reporting back in September that the North London club were battling Leeds United for the Frankfurt star’s signature.

The 26-year-old showed glimpses of his quality during the World Cup but failed to perhaps live up to his potential in Qatar as Japan crashed out at the round of 16 stage, with Croatia overcoming the Asian side on penalties.

Bild have now claimed that Spurs might reignite their interest in Kamada when the transfer window reopens in January.

The report explains that Borussia Dortmund are also keen on the attacking midfielder, whose current deal at Deutsche Bank Park runs out at the end of the season.

The publication asserts that talks between the Japanese international and Frankfurt over a new deal have now stalled and that Oliver Glasner’s side expect the player to leave in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Although I was quite disappointed with Kamada’s showing at the World Cup, I would prefer Spurs to sign him over any of the other attacking midfielders we have been linked with.

The 26-year-old’s versatility will give Conte a lot of options as he can fit into a 3-5-2 as well as a 3-4-3, and he possesses plenty of quality in the final third.
