Report: Spurs need to sign Dragusin by a certain date to play against Man United

As the signing of Radu Dragusin gets closer and closer, Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be keen to push the deal through in order to get the player registered for the weekend’s Premier League game against Manchester United.

What looked to be a simple transfer at the start of the month, has turned into a slightly more complex negotiation for Tottenham in their pursuit of Radu Dragusin.

Fabrizio Romano had claimed last week that a deal would be completed ‘very soon’ and that Dragusin himself had already agreed personal terms with Spurs.

However, interest from Napoli (Gianluca Di Marzio) and Bayern Munich (Florian Plettenberg) is thought to have complicated matters somewhat.

The fact that Genoa also refused to be pushed on the price of the transfer didn’t help, with the Italian club believed to be standing their ground (Fabrizio Romano).

Spurs chasing Dragusin deal before deadline

But, in the last 24 hours, progress appears to have been made, with Romano claiming an agreement has been reached between the two clubs, in a deal which will cost Spurs £21.5m fixed fee and £4.2m in add-ons. Djed Spence is also expected to move the other way as part of the deal.

Now, the latest from Football.London suggests Spurs are eager to get the deal across the line quickly, so that Dragusin can be registered before the Premier League deadline on Friday at midday, thus allowing him to feature against Manchester United this weekend.

It is now suspected the only thing holding up proceedings is the fact that Spence “needs to be fully convinced by the move,” but there is hope the 23-year-old will agree in order to get more playing time.

Spurs Web Opinion

We really do need Dragusin signed and registered by Friday. With Cristian Romero and Ben Davies out injured, and Ashley Phillips now off on loan, we would only have Emerson Royal and Micky van de Ven to play at centre-half against United, with the latter only just returning from injury.
