According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida, Tottenham Hotspur are making a surprise deadline day attempt to snap up Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.
Tottenham look set to have quite a busy transfer deadline day, with at least one new signing in Emerson Royal set to arrive through the door.
The Lilywhites have also been heavily linked with a move for Adama Traore over the last week and despite suggestions that Wolves are not prepared to sell the winger, the North Londoners have allegedly not given up their pursuit of the Spaniard.
It has now emerged that Tottenham are also making a sensational attempt to sign Traore’s Wolves teammate, Neves.
Almeida revealed that the North London club are currently negotiating personal terms with the Portuguese international, who is said to be valued by Wolves at €40m (£34.3m).
However, the journalist added that Manchester United are also involved in the race to sign Neves on transfer deadline day.
Ruben #Neves is negotiating a long-term contract with Tottenham. The player can cost around 40M€.🇵🇹 #THFC #WWFC#MUFC doesn't give up and can make an offer on #DeadlineDay.🔴

Neves is as close to a complete banker as a signing that one could hope to make in the Premier League. He would instantly improve our midfielder and deliver consistently for us for at least 5-6 years. Getting him for around £35m would be superb value for money.
