Report: Spurs not expecting midfielder to start matches for a number of months

Tottenham Hotspur have looked short of creative ideas in the final third of the pitch this season on more than one occasion.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side struggled to create anything of substance against Newcastle United and Brighton which resulted in the North London side lose both matches.

With Christian Eriksen still struggling to make an impact this season amid his future at the club looking every increasingly in doubt, Spurs have been unable to rely on Giovani Lo Celso.

The 23-year-old picked up a hip injury whilst on international duty with Argentina in early September and has not featured since.

A Spurs insider has reportedly told Football Insider that the club are not expecting the midfielder to be fully fit for many months.

The report claims that Lo Celso has been out on the training field at Hotspur Way but will be phased back into action by Mauricio Pochettino.

Club staff are said to believe that Lo Celso’s fitness is somewhat considerably behind his team-mates and it will be some months yet until he is capable of playing the full match for his new club.

Opinion

It is understandable to consider that Lo Celso’s fitness is behind the rest of the group, he only joined the club two days before our Premier League opener against Aston Villa and had been building up his match fitness with subsititute appearances before injury hit.

The supporters need to be patient not to expect big things too soon, especially given Eriksen’s poor run of form.
