Report: Spurs not likely to accept deadline day bid from French club

Sky Sports have reported that Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to accept an offer from French club Amiens to take Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan for the season.

The offer was reported on their Transfer Centre blog at 18:01 this evening, with Amiens wanting a loan deal with an option to buy the USA international for €2m in the future.

Kaveh Solhekol did remark that he thought it was unlikely Spurs would accept such a deal but added Carter-Vickers could still be on the way out this evening.

He said: “Cameron Carter-Vickers could be leaving the club today. We told you earlier that Celtic were interested, but in the last few minutes, French club Amiens have made an offer to take him on loan with an option to buy next summer.

“That option only values him at €2m, and I think it’s unlikely that Spurs would sanction that move. But he is a player that could be on the move in the next few hours, but it doesn’t look like he’s going to Amiens.”

Newcastle United were said to be in talks over potentially signing the Tottenham defender before the transfer deadline.

Football London also claimed that Spurs were looking to find a permanent sale for the centre-back before the window slams shut at 23:00.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s time for Carter-Vickers to move on, even if he has to leave on a free right at the end of the window. By this time tomorrow, he should be playing for another club and anything short of that will be a minor failure on Tottenham’s part.
