Report: Spurs not prepared to meet £80m valuation for Premier League star

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is likely to stay put at the club until the end of the season.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this month that Zaha’s new agent Pini Zahavi was trying to broker a deal to get the 27-year-old to Tottenham. Chelsea were also said to hold an interest in the Ivory Coast international.

The pacey winger reportedly appointed Zahavi in an attempt to engineer a move away from Palace to a team where he will get to play Champions League football and compete for silverware.

However, the latest report in The Mail has asserted that the former Manchester United winger has now accepted the fact that he will be staying with the Eagles for the remainder of the campaign.

It is claimed that both Spurs and Chelsea expressed an interest in Zaha this month but are instead focusing their efforts on trying to land a striker and are not prepared to meet Palace’s valuation.

Zaha will not try to force a move away from Palace this month and has told the club that he will stay until the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaha is talented enough to be a valuable option for any of the top teams in the country but it is his price tag that has always proven troublesome. His numbers certainly aren’t impressive enough to warrant the kind of money being mentioned. The only way he will get a move to a top-six team is if he runs his contract down and thus forces Palace to lower their valuation.
