Report: Spurs now have chance to sign long-time forward target loved by Pochettino

Football Insider have reported that the door has now opened for Tottenham to sign Leicester City winger, Demarai Gray.

This comes after the same publication reported in August that Jose Mourinho had already contacted Gray in order to convince him to come to North London.

In this latest update, the report claims that a recruitment source has revealed that Gray has turned down a new contract at the King Power Stadium.

The winger’s contract expires at the end of the 2020/21 season and his departure is now described as ‘inevitable’.

Despite this, Gray is still valued at around £20m by the Foxes, although Tottenham may choose to wait and sign the player on a free transfer next summer.

Gray is said to be a youngster Tottenham have been tracking for three years and was admired by Pochettino in North London, as he is now by Jose Mourinho.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gray is not good enough to get into the Leicester team and the same can be said of Tottenham. He is not an upgrade on the likes of Ryan Sessegnon, who is also struggling for chances in the starting XI. On a free transfer, the signing makes some sense if Gareth Bale does not return for the 2021/22 campaign, but that is the only way I see a deal happening.
