Report: Spurs now ‘on the verge’ of securing next summer signing in £30m deal

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now on the verge of agreeing a £30m deal for Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven.

After weeks of speculation, it seems like Spurs are finally on the cusp of strengthening at left centre-back, which was seen by many as a priority area to address coming into this transfer window after last season’s defensive woes ended up being costly with an eighth place finish in the Premier League table.

Fabrizio Romano took to social media on Wednesday to reveal that Tottenham were close to reaching an agreement over the signing of van de Ven, with the journalist adding that negotiations are now at the final stages.

van de Ven transfer expected to be worth £30m

This has now also been backed up by The Mail, who reveal that the North London club held ‘positive’ talks with the Wolfsburg hierarchy overa deal for the centre-back on Wednesday.

The report states that Spurs are now ‘hopeful’ of sealing a £30m deal for the Dutch Under-21 international, who has been on their radar for some time.

The publication adds that van de Ven was also previously of interest to Liverpool but Tottenham now ‘appear to have got the deal over the line’.

Spurs Web Opinion

The pace at which Spurs have seemingly moved over the last 24 to 48 hours suggests that these deals (Van de Ven, Ashley Phillips and Alejo Veliz) were put on hold due to the Harry Kane negotiations with Bayern.

The fact that Tottenham are now pushing ahead with these moves could mean that there has been a breakthrough in talks between them and Bayern for the England captain.
