Report: Spurs offer Ndombele to club in player swap deal

ESPN have claimed that Tottenham have offered Lyon the chance to re-sign Tanguy Ndombele as part of a swap deal for Houssem Aouar.

Aouar, who scored eight times and provided four assists last season, is rumoured to be on the radars of both Tottenham and Arsenal.

It was previously revealed that Spurs have a strong relationship with Lyon after their purchase of Ndombele in 2019 and that the relationship could work in the Lilywhites’ favour in their pursuit of Aouar.

However, ESPN have suggested that Tottenham have now offered Ndombele back to Lyon in exchange for Aouar.

It is explained that Spurs have contacted Lyon about the proposal but there has been no formal response from the Ligue 1 club.

The report adds that Aouar is keen on moving to the Premier League and that Lyon are keen to cash in on him in order to offset their financial issues.

Even if Spurs were willing to let Ndombele leave, his market value would likely be considerably higher than Aouar even though the 24-year-old has not lived up to expectations since his move to the Premier League.

So, the only way this deal could go through is if Lyon offer cash plus Aouar for Ndombele, which is unlikely to happen given the Ligue 1 club’s financial woes.
