Report: Spurs offered another chance to sign Serie A midfielder

Inter Milan have offered Matias Vecino to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to a report by The Daily Star.

Vecino has fallen out of favour with Antonio Conte and has been restricted to a bit-part role at the San Siro this season.

Spurs were reportedly interested in signing the 28-year-old during the January transfer window (Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla).

Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) reported back in March that the midfielder was set to leave the Serie A giants in the summer in search of a new challenge.

The Daily Star claim that Inter are ready to cash in on Vecino and have now offered Spurs the chance to sign him ahead of North London rivals Arsenal and Everton who are said to be prioritising other targets.

The report reveals that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the midfielder and believes he could add steel to the Tottenham midfield.

The report asserts that Spurs will have to pay £18 million in order to land the experienced midfielder and are currently weighing up making an offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

A move for Vecino would not make much sense for us at all this summer. While the Uruguayan is versatile, I would not say he is brilliant at any one thing. We already have several central midfielders of a similar profile in our squad. Our money will be better spent on an out-and-out defensive midfielder like Hojbjerg.
