Report: Spurs offered chance to sign Real Madrid man for £25m amidst Arsenal links

Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio amid interest from Arsenal, according to the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (10/04/22, p.73).

Asensio sees his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expire next year (TransferMarkt), though Real may consider their options regarding the winger going forward.

The LaLiga side have reportedly set an asking price of up to £25 million (€30m) if a sale was to happen, with the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan closely monitoring the situation (CalcioMercato).

And the Sunday Mirror reinforces the latter’s interest in Asensio, while adding that Spurs have also been handed the opportunity to acquire the player heading into the summer.

The 26-year-old has endured indifferent form under Carlo Ancelotti this season, who has largely rotated the Spaniard in and out of the starting line-up.

Asensio has netted eight times in 26 appearances this term, but has only achieved a starting berth on 15 occasions in the Spanish top-flight (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Real Madrid don’t seem to be too keen on keeping Asensio given he has just over a year remaining on his current deal, so will be looking to cash in.

The reported asking price seems fairly modest too, but you have to question whether this is a transfer of necessity, and it doesn’t exactly scream that right now.
