Report: Spurs on alert as big-name summer playmaker target may now be available again

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with many attacking midfielders back in the summer transfer window, with the club eventually landing Giovani Lo Celso on loan.

However, Spurs also had a bid for Paulo Dybala accepted by Juventus (Sky Sports) and were even rumoured to be moving for ex-Liverpool creator Philippe Coutinho (Sun).

The Sun claimed that Pochettino was angry at Tottenham’s failure to sign Coutinho back when they had the chance in the summer, with the Brazilian eventually moving on loan to Bayern Munich.

In fact, Coutinho then managed to score against the Lilywhites in the Champions League group stages for Bayern.

The Express now report that Man United, Chelsea, and Spurs have all be alerted to Coutinho’s potential availability next summer, with Barca apparently keen to raise funds for a Neymar transfer.

Barcelona reportedly have to balance their books before making a big signing such as Neymar if they want to comply with financial fair play rules.
