Report: Spurs on ‘red alert’ as striker is now ‘likely’ to make Premier League switch

Journalist Matteo Moretto has told CaughtOffside’s daily briefing (as relayed by TEAMtalk) that Tottenham Hotspur are on on ‘red alter’ as Jonathan David now looks set to leave Lille at the end of the season.

David has been prolific since his move from Gent to Ligue 1 three and a half years ago, with the striker having scored 74 times in 168 appearances during his time at Lille.

According to Moretto, the Canadian international’s time at Stade Pierre Mauroy is expected to come to an end in the summer.

Premier League clubs circling Jonathan David

It is revealed that David is ‘likely’ to move to England at the end of the season, with ‘several’ Premier League clubs now circling over the player.

Moretto adds that Premier League clubs are ‘ready to push hard’ for the 23-year-old are are prepared to ‘invest a lot of money’ to sign him.

Tottenham and Man Utd are named as clubs who are now on ‘red alert’ about David, who is allegedly valued by Lille at around €50m (£42.7m).

David’s attributes are quite similar to that of Richarlison and the Lille star would be a decent option to be used in rotation with the Brazilian. He is also likely to be considerably less expensive than Ivan Toney and maybe even a little cheaper than Santiago Gimenez.
