Report: Spurs on verge of deal for midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of reaching an agreement with Metz to sign midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, according to L’Equipe.

The report claims that the 18-year-old will likely be loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit with personal terms still to be agreed ahead of his proposed switch to North London.

RMC journalist Joris Crolbois has claimed that a deal is practically done, with a few agreed of around £12-13million.

The Senegalese international has also been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester United and Man City.

Sarr is comfortably operating in a number of positions across midfield, but his strengths lie in the box to box role.

He started his career at the Generation Foot academy, in Africa, who have also produced Watford’s Ismaila Sarr ex-West Ham striker Diafra Sakho.

Sarr arrived in France in September of last year, when he signed a five-year deal with Metz and soon after established himself as a first-team regular.

It is encouraging to see Tottenham target potential future stars of the first team, however, after the debacle against Pacos, it is evident to see that the centre of our midfield is desperate for reinforcements, with the likes of Harry Winks failing to impress.
