Report: Tottenham are one of four clubs eyeing a move for Argentine striker

TNT Sports have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for River Plate striker Lucas Beltran.

Lucas Beltran, who has emerged as River Plate‘s main marksman following Julian Alvarez’s switch to Manchester City, has managed eight goals in 20 appearances across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

TNT Sports claim that the centre-forward’s ‘great level’ and all-round displays have captured the interest of several European clubs, including Spurs.

The report names Atletico Madrid, Napoli and AC Milan as the three other clubs who are eyeing a move for Beltran this summer.

As things stand, it is explained that the Rossoneri are leading the race for the 22-year-old’s signature, with the Serie A giants already said to have met with River Plate president Jorge Brito regarding the player.

However, TNT Sports add that the Argentine club are yet to receive any offer for Beltran and his future thus remains open.

The publication also reveals that the young striker turned down the chance to move to Major League Soccer recently but a move to Europe could now be in the offing for him.

Spurs Web Opinion

Beltran’s goal record is quite modest and he does not seem to be anywhere close to breaking into Argentina’s senior set-up at the moment.

So, it is surprising to hear that he is already in the sights of some top European clubs.

That suggests that the scouts who have watched him play have been extremely impressed by some facets of his game.
