Report: Spurs one of four PL clubs interested in England international free transfer

ESPN have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs interested in signing Jesse Lingard on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Lingard’s current deal at Old Trafford runs out next summer and the midfielder has struggled for game time so far this campaign, having played just 63 minutes in five substitute appearances in the Premier League.

ESPN claim that the 28-year-old has rejected United’s offer of a new deal and does not plan on restarting talks over a new contract.

Lingard is alleged to be frustrated at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for not following through with his promise of game time during the summer.

The Man Utd star is said to be keen on making the England squad for the World Cup in Qatar next year and is thus desperate to play regularly to force himself into Gareth Southgate’s thinking.

The report names Spurs, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle as the four Premier League clubs who want to snap up Lingard in the summer while AC Milan and Barcelona are also alleged to have shown interest.

Plenty of clubs will be after Lingard’s signature in the summer if he is available on a free transfer. Whether or not Spurs go for him will be influenced by many factors, including how well the likes of Dele and Ndombele fare under Conte.
