Report: Spurs one of four Premier League clubs interested in £16.7m-rated striker

Tottenham remain one name on a growing list of clubs interested in signing Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, according to Gazetta dello Sport (print edition – 28/03/22) via Sport Witness.

Ekitike, 19, has progressed well since breaking into the Reims senior side last season with a strong campaign for the French outfit so far.

He has recorded 10 goals and four assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt), which has placed him firmly in the spotlight for a potential step up to higher levels.

And Gazetta dello Sport report that Spurs, alongside a host of other Premier League teams, are interested in securing the France U21 international’s signature at the end of the season.

The report states Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle are also pursuing Ekitike, with Reims allegedly snubbing a number of approaches from them so far.

It adds that Roma, led by former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, have tracked him closely in recent weeks and have discovered an asking price of £16.7 million (20m) to successfully strike a deal.

The interest surrounding Ekitike continues to grow and the competition will only drive his price up – especially if he continues to play at a strong level.

As one of French football’s brightest prospects, this could be one that Spurs should definitely pursue closely as they could regret missing out on him in the future.
