Report: Spurs one of four Premier League clubs to express interest in Barcelona player

According to Spanish publication Sport, Tottenham face competition from Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United for Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet.

Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is reported to be Tottenham’s number one target for the left centre-back role while RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is also thought to be of interest to the North London club (Football.London).

Lenglet is another name who is thought to be on Spurs’ radar, with Sport previously reporting that Antonio Conte had given the green light for the club to pursue the Frenchman.

The same publication have now offered an update regarding Lenglet’s future, claiming that the defender is open to leaving Camp Nou this summer.

It is explained that Barcelona would prefer to sell Lenglet for around €15m (£12.7m) but with a sale proving ‘complicated’, the La Liga giants are now willing to loan him out to get his salary off their wage bill.

The report asserts that Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton have all asked about the 26-year-old’s availability.

The speculation linking Lenglet with a move to Spurs is coming only from Spanish outlets and not from journalists close to Tottenham. If the Frenchman is indeed one of the options in Conte’s wishlist for the left centre-back role, I suspect his name will be a fair way down the list.
