Report: Spurs one of three front-runners to hire experienced manager

A report in the print edition of TuttoSport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has installed Tottenham Hotspur as one of the three potential destinations for former Juventus boss, Massimiliano Allegri.

Multiple reports have cast doubt on Jose Mourinho’s future at Spurs over recent weeks, with RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann being named as the Portuguese coach’s most likely potential successor.

However, Allegri’s name has also been mooted, with 90 min reporting earlier this week that the Italian has shown interest in the Tottenham job through his agent.

Previous reports from Italy suggested that AS Roma were the most likely destination for the former Juve coach, with the Italian club consigned to losing out on Nageslmann amidst Spurs’ interest in the German.

However, Tuttosport has now claimed that Allegri could end up at Spurs, Roma or back at Juve next season.  The report states that Spurs could be one of the favourites for the 53-year-old if Jose Mourinho leaves the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we fail to make the top four and Levy decides to sack Mourinho, then I would like to see us go for a more progressive coach like Nagelsmann rather than another pragmatic one like Allegri or Diego Simeone.

Brendan Rodgers has shown that he has evolved at Leicester and while the Northern Irishman would likely be Levy’s first choice, I do not see him leaving the King Power Stadium for now.
