Report: Spurs one of three PL clubs interested in experienced centre-back

Tutto Udinese have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have an eye on Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao ahead of the January transfer window.

Reports over recent days have indicated that Antonio Conte is keen on strengthening Spurs’ backline in January, with CMW.it claiming that the Spurs boss wants to reunite with Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij.

Tutto Udinese have now stated that the North London club have their eye on another experienced centre-back from the Serie A in the form of Becao.

The report explains that the centre-back, whose current contract at the Dacia Arena runs until 2024, has refused to accept the new deal offered by Udinese.

The Brazilian is thought to want a salary on par with Udinese’s top earners, with the Italian club expected to resume talks with the player after the turn of the year.

It is asserted that Spurs, Arsenal and Everton are all monitoring Becao’s situation, with all three clubs said to be ready to pay €15m (£13m) for his services.

TuttoUdinese state that Andrea Sottil’s men value the 26-year-old at €20m (£17.4m) and that the defender’s future will depend on the outcome of the contract negotiations.

Spurs Web Opinion

Becao has done well in a back three at Udinese and would fit in well at Spurs. While the Brazilian is not a big name, Conte is likely only looking for a backup centre-back to potentially replace Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga in January. So, the 26-year-old would fit the bill.
