Report: Spurs one of two clubs to make ‘significant advances’ for 26-year-old

According to Italian publication Il Messaggero (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham have made ‘significant advances’ to sign Lazio midfielder Joaquin Correa.

Reports first emerged last month that Fabio Paratici was keen on snapping up Correa, who was thought to be valued at around £34m by Lazio.

TuttoMercatoWeb reported this month that the Argentine is considered surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri, with Alfredo Pedulla even alleging at the time that Spurs had made an opening offer of around €30m (£25.6m) for the attacking midfielder.

Everton and Inter Milan had also been previously credited with interest in the 26-year-old.

Il Messaggero have now asserted that Spurs and Everton are the only clubs to make advances for Correa, although the Lazio star is also of interest to Arsenal, Wolves and Leicester City.

The report adds that the Serie A club wish to cash in on the attacking midfielder in order to fund moves for their targets.

However, it is explained that even Tottenham and Everton are not ready to offer in excess of €20m for Correa.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been reported that Fabio Paratici wants to add an attacking midfielder to the squad this summer but I do not see that happening unless the club decide to cash in on Dele Alli.

One would expect Nuno to give the England international a chance to prove he can be part of his plans.
