Report: Spurs one of two frontrunners for prolific striker’s signature

According to the print edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur remain one of the frontrunners in the race for Dusan Vlahovic’s signature.

It was reported last week by the Italian press that the race for Vlahvoic was between Tottenham, Arsenal and Juventus, with the two North London clubs alleged to be the front-runners.

However, it has since emerged that Manchester City have entered the race for the Serbian international.

Sources have stated that Pep Guardiola ‘loves’ the 21-year-old’s qualities and that City are set to push ahead with a January assault for the striker after failing to sign Harry Kane in the summer.

It has also been claimed that Spurs now ‘seem to be slipping away’ in the race for Vlahovic after City’s emergence.

However, Gazzetta (11/12) have now suggested that Tottenham are still one of the leading contenders to sign the Fiorentina star.

The report claims that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have identified the Serbian as the perfect addition to their forward line.

It is explained that while Juventus are keen on snapping up Vlahovic, Tottenham and Man City are ‘above all’ in the race for the centre-forward and have ‘vastly superior budgets’ to the Old Lady.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs fans should not get their hopes up regarding Vlahovic as I believe that City are likely to win the race for the Serbian if they are interested in him.

The 21-year-old has shown this season that he is one of the best strikers in world football and I do not see him wanting to move to a club outside the Champions League.

Besides, City can also blow us out of the water in terms of both the transfer fee and the pay packet.
