Report: Spurs ‘one step away’ from signing Newcastle star

Tottenham Hotspur may look to bolster their attacking options this summer after having gone 16 months without bringing in a single new player.

The last signing Tottenham secured came in the form of Lucas Moura back in January 2018, but they are now said to be interested in another striker come winger.

CalcioNapoli24 claim that Tottenham are now just ‘one step away’ from securing the signing of Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United.

The deal is said to be worth in the region of 28 million Euros, as Pochettino looks to provide extra reinforcements to Harry Kane, a player who has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.

The report also claims that this could spell the end of Erik Lamela’s Tottenham career, as Perez is said to be the former Roma man’s replacement.

Lamela too has been plagued by long-term injuries throughout his Spurs career, and the club may be seeking someone more reliable.

However, Perez is said to favour a move to Italy, so it could be a while before we find out his fate this summer transfer window (CalcioNapoli24).

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be fine with this signing as long as Perez doesn’t cost any more than we sell Lamela for. He would be a good addition to the squad, but not exactly the first team star fans would have been dreaming of. I am still holding out hopes regarding a big deal for Tanguy Ndombele or James Maddison.
