Report: Spurs open talk with defender’s agent with player holding out for Barcelona

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Catalan news outlet Sport.

The report claims that along with Spurs, Juventus and Chelsea are also keen on the central defender, who instead would prefer a move to Barcelona.

The 30-year-old’s representatives have been approached by Tottenham over a potential switch to the Premier League.

Koulibaly is out of contract at the Serie A side at the end of next season and has already informed the club of his desire to leave.

It is said that the Senegalese international is waiting for talks to commence between Napoli and Barcelona such is his desire to make the switch to the Nou Camp.

Tottenham made their first signing of the summer on Tuesday when Ivan Perisic swapped Inter Milan to move to Antonio Conte’s side on a two-year deal.

Koulibaly would be a great signing for Tottenham, however, this could be a typical tactic from Fabio Paratici who likes to have as many as seven or eight players on his radar at any one time, with Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni said to be another.

If Koulibaly has his heart set on a move to Barcelona, Spurs need to switch their attention to a player who is happy to come to the club.
