Report: Spurs open talks with Lyon over transfer of top midfield target

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to make a splash in the summer transfer market this year, making it almost 18 months since their last senior signing.

Lucas Moura came in from PSG back in January 2018, with the only other piece of business coming in the form of a Mousa Dembele sale in January this year.

Spurs have yet to replace the midfield magician, despite the fact that he was first choice under Pochettino for the last five years, when fit.

However, the news that so many Tottenham fans have been waiting for is finally here, as reports suggest the club have opened talks with Lyon over Tanguy Ndombele (Guardian).

Manchester City and Manchester United are said to be after the central midfield powerhouse, but The Guardian claim that Spurs have started a dialogue with the French club in an attempt to beat them to him.

Unfortunately, Spurs are yet to make a bid for the player, according to the report, with the asking price set at £66.6m.

Spurs Web Opinion:

£66.6m sounds like value for money to me. If this valuation is accurate, then I believe Spurs should get an offer in today for the full amount. Teams are likely to start circling for the Frenchman before long, and Spurs are unlikely to win a bidding war. Get in early and get the deal done, Levy.
