Report: Spurs open talks with Real Madrid for £55m striker as Kane replacement

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is likely to be sidelined until early April after undergoing surgery on his left hamstring earlier this month (Tottenham).

This comes after the England captain ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring against Southampton on New Years Day.

However, while Spurs say he should return to training in April, one leading surgeon claimed that Kane could be out for six months and miss EURO 2020 (Daily Mail).

Spurs currently have no out-and-out back-up striker at the club, with Lucas Moura currently filling the role in a makeshift capacity.

Defensa Central have now claimed that Spurs have opened talks with Real Madrid over the possibility of taking Luka Jovic from Los Blancos. Madrid signed the Serbian for a reported €65m plus add-ons last year (Guardian).

Real Madrid chiefs are said to view Jovic as a star for the future and have thus rejected Tottenham’s approach for the 22-year-old.

However, Calcio Mercato claim that Jovic could be sent out on loan in January.
