Report: Spurs optimistic that Kane can be persuaded to finish his career at the club

The Tottenham hierarchy believe that Harry Kane can be persuaded to remain at the club until the end of his career, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been well documented over recent months that Kane has a good relationship with Antonio Conte, with the 28-year-old said to believe that the Italian could help the club win silverware (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold).

It has even been suggested that the striker is open to starting talks with the club this summer regarding a potential new contract (The Evening Standard).

Journalist Nicolo Schira claimed this week that Spurs have already started working on a new deal for the England captain.

The Mail have now explained that no such discussions on a new contract have begun as of yet. However, the report adds that Spurs are now ‘positive’ about their chances of convincing Kane to finish his career at the club.

The striker is now said to be optimistic about his future and his chances of being part of a successful team in North London under Antonio Conte. The 28-year-old reportedly believes that he can fulfil his ambitions under the Italian.

Based on these various reports over recent weeks, Conte appears to be a crucial piece of the puzzle in getting Kane to commit his future to the club.

So, if Spurs show signs of progress next season and if the Italian can be convinced to pursue a longer-term project than he is used to, Kane would likely put pen to paper on a new deal.
