Report: Spurs player agrees four-year deal with English club ahead of transfer

Football Insider have reported that Tottenham’s Dennis Cirkin has now arrived on Wearside to complete a transfer to Sunderland.

The report claims Tottenham accepted a six-figure bid from the Black Cats for the permanent transfer of the 19-year-old left-back.

Cirkin reportedly arrived at Sunderland today at lunchtime in order to complete his medical and finalise the last few details of his move, as well as physically signing the contract.

The Irish defender will sign a four-year deal with Sunderland after rejecting a new contract offer from Tottenham.

It is said that Cirkin decided a move to Sunderland would benefit his career rather than competing with the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Ryan Sessegnon, and Ben Davies in North London.

He is expected to walk straight into the first-team at Sunderland where he will likely be able to rack up instant and consistent minutes on the pitch.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is a really sad transfer as I think Cirkin has a bright future. Only time will tell whether it is a mistake to let him leave, although it sounds as though he would have only stayed if Nuno could have offered him regular minutes.
