Report: Spurs player ‘edging closer’ to sealing permanent transfer to loan club

According to The Daily Record, Celtic are edging closer to landing Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been in exceptional form since his loan move to Park Head last summer and the centre-back seems to be getting better and better with more games under his belt.

The 24-year-old produced a Man of the Match display on Sunday in the Old Firm derby, putting in a solid defensive performance and scoring the match-winner at the other end.

Celtic have the option to sign the defender for £6m at the end of his loan spell (Glasgow World) but the Tottenham man is also allegedly attracting interest from the Premier League, with the likes of Leicester, West Ham, Wolves, Burnley and Watford said to be monitoring the USA international’s progress (TEAMtalk).

The Daily Record have now insisted that despite interest from Premier League clubs, Celtic are edging closer to winning the race for Carter-Vickers’ signature.

The report asserts that the Spurs academy graduate’s entourage believe Celtic Park is the best place for the defender to continue his development.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Celtic on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League, I can see why Carter-Vickers would be tempted to move to the Scottish giants.

However, I do not think it would be wise for the 24-year-old to join Celtic if he is attracting interest from some Premier League clubs.

Perhaps, he views a move to Celtic as a stepping stone to potentially return to the Premier League a year or two later.
