Report: Spurs player had hoped for a fresh start under Postecoglou this year

The Evening Standard have revealed that Ryan Sessegonon was hoping for a fresh start under Ange Postecoglou but those hopes have now been dashed after he picked up yet another hamstring injury.

Sessegnon has not been able to build any sort of momentum since his move to Tottenham, owing to the constant managerial changes and his injury problems.

Just a few years ago, the 23-year-old was seen by many as a potential future England star but that has not come to fruition so far.

On Tuesday, the left-back suffered his latest injury blow, with Tottenham confirming that he had to have surgery on his hamstring problem.

Sessegnon has since taken to social media to admit that he is devastated at the news but vowed to keep fighting to get back to full fitness and show what he can do.

Ryan Sessegnon was keen for a fresh Spurs start

The Evening Standard have now explained that the youngster had been determined for a fresh start under the forward-thinking Postecoglou and the new coaching staff.

However, he has now been, at least temporarily, denied of that, with Sessegnon not expected to play a part in pre-season.

Sessegnon was always going to be up against it in pre-season as he is evidently not a good fit for Postecoglou’s inverted full-back role.

However, it is quite disappointing that the 23-year-old did not even get to show the new boss what he is about and make his case.
