Report: Spurs player is ‘enthusiastic’ about joining Serie A club this summer

La Voce Rossoblu have claimed that Djed Spence is keen on making a permanent switch to Genoa from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Spence joined Genoa on loan in January after Leeds prematurely ended his loan spell at Elland Road, with the Italian club having the option to sign the right-back permanently for £8.5m this summer.

The 23-year-old has made eight Serie A appearances since joining Genoa on loan in January but has only completed 90 minutes on three occasions so far (Transfermarkt).

Despite this, it was reported by Caught Offside a few days ago that Alberto Gilardino’s men wish to sign the right-back permanently and that they are in talks with Tottenham regarding the same.

Spence wants a permanent move to Genoa

This information has now been backed up by La Voce Rossoblu, who say that the player has ‘done very well’ at Luigi Ferraris Stadium since arriving at the club in January.

The outlet says that the Genoa would be ready to explore a permanent deal and the player is hoping that he can stay at the club beyond the summer.

In fact, it is asserted that the on-loan Tottenham man ‘would be enthusiastic’ about the idea of sealing a permanent switch to the Italian side.

I can see Genoa asking Spurs for a discounted price for Spence rather than paying the £8.5m, given the relationship that the two clubs have forged. Tottenham may even consider using the right-back as a sweetener in a deal to land Albert Gudmundsson.
