Report: Spurs player is now keen to return to France to reignite his career

Foot Mercato have revealed that Tanguy Ndombele wants to return to Ligue 1 in order to get his floundering career back on track.

When Spurs signed Ndombele for a club-record £63m fee from Lyon in the summer of 2019, it was widely hailed as a major coup for the club, with the midfielder appearing to be on the verge of becoming one of the best in the world in his position.

However, since then, the 27-year-old’s career has nosedived, so much so that he is now even struggling to get regular starts on loan at Galatasaray.

What has been especially frustrating for Spurs fans is the fact that the Frenchman evidently has the required talent to thrive at the top level, but successive Tottenham managers have decided that he lacks the application (and perhaps the fitness) to be part of their set-up.

Tanguy Ndombele wants to return to France

Following unsuccessful loan spells in Italy and Turkey, it has now been suggested by Foot Mercato that Ndombele wants to return to France.

Having been relegated to a bit-part role in Istanbul, it is alleged that the midfielder wants a fresh start back in his native country.

However, the report does not specify if such a move is even possible this month or if any Ligue 1 sides are ready to take the Tottenham man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ndombele certainly did not set the world alight in his loan spell back at Lyon during the second half of the 2021-22 campaign. I am not sure too many top Ligue 1 clubs would be particularly keen on landing the France international on the back of his showing in Turkey.
