Report: Spurs player is still manager’s top target for January transfer window

The print edition of Corriere Della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains Maximiliano Allegri’s preferred target ahead of Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.

On Thursday, The Atheltic’s Charlie Eccleshare gave a comprehensive update on Hojbjerg’s future, explaining that while Ajax had expressed an interest in the Dane, they are not confident about getting a deal for the midfielder over the line.

The journalist revealed that the 28-year-old is much keener to move to the Turin club if they do push for a move for him next month.

Hojbjerg is still the number-one target for Juventus

Corriere have now said that the Tottenham man is still Juventus’ ‘number one’ target ahead of Phillips as Allegri is ‘not convinced’ by the Man City star.

The Juve boss allegedly wants a player with ‘different characteristics’, with Hojbjerg named as the ‘most welcome figure’ by the Italian coach.

Meanwhile, another recent update from Calciomercato has said that Tottenham want a fee of around €25m (£21.6m) for Hojbjerg while the Bianconeri’s preference would be for a loan deal.

If Tottenham can get a deal for Conor Gallagher over the line, the club will perhaps relax their demands for Hojbjerg in January.

Perhaps Spurs could agree an initial loan deal with Juve with a conditional obligation to buy based on the number of appearances the 28-year-old makes at the Allianz Stadium
