Report: Spurs player may be allowed to leave in January – Interest from four countries

According to Brazilian publication Lance, Lucas Moura will be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur amid reported interest from Premier League, Serie A, MLS, and Middle Eastern clubs.

Moura joined Spurs from PSG in January of 2018 and has gone on to make 213 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals and contributing 27 assists in that time (Transfermarkt).

He has found himself on the peripheries of Antonio Conte’s squad of late though, especially since the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison has bolstered Tottenham’s attacking options.

The 30-year-old has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), though that is partly down to his ongoing recovery from injury.

There has been increasing speculation that Moura will leave Spurs in the near future, with Bolavip claiming a return to his native Brazil could be on the cards in January, while Mundo Deportivo cited Sevilla as being interested in the winger.

Now, it appears there are offers on the table for Moura with a number of different destinations on the cards. The report from Lance indicates Moura has “received surveys” from clubs in England, Italy, North America, and the Middle East, though no clubs are named specifically.

However, it is not believed that a departure in the upcoming January transfer window will happen, with Lance claiming Moura is more likely to see out the last six months of his contract at Spurs before leaving for free in the summer of 2023.

Spurs Web Opinion

Lucas Moura is one of those players who it almost feels pointless trying to sell now. He’s an experienced head, who still has the ability to offer something from the bench and appears more than happy in his role as a bit-part player now.

For the money we could get for him, we would never be able to sign a replacement, so we may as well keep him until the end of the season and then look at upgrading.
