Report: Spurs player open to exit but a move is unlikely to happen next month

According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to sell Davinson Sanchez during the January transfer window.

After not making a single Premier League appearance for more than two months since Tottenham’s 3-3 draw against West Ham back in October, Sanchez was handed an opportunity in the starting eleven against Wolves on Sunday.

Barring a few shaky moments, the Colombian put in a decent display and will be hoping to build on that in the coming weeks and months.

Multiple reports have claimed that the 24-year-old could be set to leave the club next month, with Everton (Don Balon via TEAMtalk) and AC Milan (The Sun) both suggested as potential destinations for the defender.

The Athletic claim that the 24-year-old is open to leaving the club next month if the right opportunity comes along.

However, the report suggests that he is unlikely to depart in January as bringing in a replacement for the former Ajax man will be tricky for Spurs.

It is suggested that Jose Mourinho appreciates the qualities that Sanchez brings to the team, especially his pace.

Spurs Web Opinion

Selling Sanchez in January might not be a wise move unless we bring in a top-quality centre-back. Joe Rodon is still learning his trade in the top flight and it would be a risk to rely too much on him in case of an injury to Alderweireld or Dier. Perhaps things would be different if Tanganga is able to keep himself fit the youngster does seem alarmingly injury prone.
