Report: Spurs player prepared to give up close to £1m to head out on loan

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil is set to complete his loan move to Valencia next week, according to Spanish news outlet Cadena SER.

The report claims that Gil is ‘giving up €1m’ (£848,000) to return to the club where he spent the second half of last season.

Gil is said to have agreed to sacrifice the money in order to spend a second stint at the Mestalla.

The 21-year-old has been named in all three of Tottenham’s match day squads for the opening Premier League campaign without making an appearance and is considered to be doubtful for selection for the trip to Nottingham Forest after missing training on Friday (Football.London).

Gil is reported to be confident that he can return to his best form under Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso.

With just a matter of days to go before the transfer window closes, there are likely to be many more outgoings, however, it will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte gets his wish of replacements arriving in north London.

Gil is much better suited to the style of Spanish football and lacks the physicality required to cut it in the English top flight, at least at this stage of his young career.
