It has emerged over the last few days that Villarreal have stepped up their efforts to bring Lo Celso back to the club (Fabrizio Romano).
Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on Monday that even though returning to Villarreal remains the Argentine’s preference, Fiorentina are ready to pounce if the La Liga club are not able to agree on a deal for the midfielder.
The journalist suggested that the Viola are ready to launch a loan offer for the Spurs man with an option to buy for €20m (£16.9m).
La Nazione have now claimed that Fiorentina ‘strongly want’ Lo Celso and intend to get as close to Tottenham’s asking price as possible.
The report asserts that although Villarreal are keen on snapping up the 26-year-old, the Spanish club are not able to ‘satisfy’ Spurs’ demands.
It is explained that the Serie A club’s hierarchy will meet with Lo Celso’s entourage on Thursday and the meeting could be crucial in convincing the player to make the move to Artemio Franchi Stadium.
Spurs Web Opinion
Various Italian publications have suggested over recent days that Fiorentina would be willing to offer a higher fee for Lo Celso than Villarreal. However, I still expect the La Liga club to win the race for the midfielder as a return to El Madrigal seems to be the player’s clear preference.
