Report: Spurs player to be given his first start since December this weekend

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to turn around their Premier League fortunes with a win over Southampton this weekend.

Spurs have dropped eight points in their last three Prem matches, losing to Burnley and Chelsea before scraping a draw against Arsenal in the North London Derby.

This has seen Tottenham drop from title contenders to top four hopefuls in the space of just a week or so.

They have however qualified for the Champions League quarter finals, but will probably need to finish in the top four to earn another top European run next season.

One man who will be hoping to add some solidity to his team is Eric Dier, who The Evening Standard believe will start against Southampton.

This would be Dier’s first start since December, as he underwent surgery to have his appendix removed before suffering from a couple of illnesses.

His last match was a 2-0 win over Leicester City on December 8.
