Report: Spurs player turns down new contract – Has been ‘charmed’ by another offer

Voetbalkrant have revealed that Tottenham starlet Romaine Mundle is now nearing a switch to Belgian, having travelled to the country this week to tour Standard Liege’s facilities.

Mundle has been one of the standout players for Spurs in Premier League 2 this season, with seven goals and five assists to his name, but the winger’s future is in major doubt as his current deal in North London runs out in June (Transfermarkt).

Het Laatste Nieuws reported a couple of weeks ago that Anderlecht were keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old’s displays and were considering offering him a contract.

This was followed by a report in Le Soir, who claimed last week that Anderlecht’s rivals Standard Liege had also contacted the Spurs youngster regarding a move to Belgium.

According to Voetbalkrant’s latest update, Mundle has now refused a new contract offered by Tottenham and now wants to leave the club in search of first-team opportunities.

The report reveals that following conversations with Liege, the winger even travelled to Belgium last weekend to watch their clash against Westerlo.

It is asserted that Mundle was ‘charmed’ by the tour of the club’s facilities and is now ‘in negotiations’ with the Belgian giants over a move.

It looks increasingly likely that we are now going to lose another promising young talent from the academy and Mundle certainly would not be the last.

Tottenham are not the only top Premier League club who are having this problem as an increasing number of young English players are deciding to move abroad in the hope of getting first-team experience at a younger age.
