Report: Spurs player wanted to move away on loan this week

Tottenham winger and full-back Ryan Sessegnon was keen on joining Fenerbahce on loan this week, according to Fanatik.

The 21-year-old was said to be firmly on the radar of the Turkish club and they had been keen on acquiring the England U21 international on a season-long loan.

The Turkish outlet claimed Sessegnon was open to making the move this week, after Fenerbahce coach Vitor Pereira had direct contact with Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of facilitating a move.

However, a move was not able to be agreed between the two sides, with the terms of the loan proving tricky to negotiate before the cut-off.

Sessegnon will remain at Spurs for the time being, where he has featured in two Europa Conference League play-off fixtures so far this season.

He has found adjusting to life at Spurs tough since joining the club in a £25 million deal from Fulham in 2019.

He spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim to continue his development, where he appeared on 29 occasions for the German side, scoring twice and recording three assists.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sessegnon hasn’t had it easy since arriving at Spurs two years ago. Injuries have held him back for sure, while he hasn’t really taken the opportunities in the first team when given to him. Luckily there will be plenty more chances to prove himself in the domestic competitions and the Conference League.
