Report: Spurs player wants £8.8m contract as PL clubs circle for his signature

Goal have revealed that several clubs have expressed an interest in signing Lucas Moura on a free transfer but the Tottenham man is requesting €10m (£8.8m) from interested parties.

It is now clear that Moura will leave Spurs on a free transfer when his contract runs out in June and over the last few weeks, reports have indicated that Fenerbahce are stepping up their pursuit of the winger (Rudy Galetti).

However, this suggestion was shot down by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, who said on his YouTube channel on 22 February that there has been no contact between the Turkish club and Spurs regarding a deal for the 30-year-old.

Goal have now revealed that Moura has received offers from the Premier League, Major League Soccer, Serie A and Qatar, as he nears the end of his contract with Spurs.

The report adds that the former Paris Saint-Germain star has made it clear to clubs that he wants a three-year contract with a total package of €10m (£8.8m) to sign on the dotted line.

It is explained that this rules out the possibility of the player returning to Sao Paulo as the Brazilian club cannot afford to offer him such as deal, owing to their current financial crisis.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is quite understandable why Moura would want a big payday as this will be the last big contract of his career.

However, I believe that the 30-year-old could still play at the highest level for a couple of more seasons.

So, perhaps he will consider a slightly smaller package to continue playing in the Premier League or to join a Serie A club, rather than moving to Qatar or the MLS.
