Report: Spurs player wants to reunite with Mourinho at Roma

Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Erik Lamela would jump at the chance of reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Roma.

Reports over the last few days have claimed that Mourinho wants to raid his former club for Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but it has been revealed that Tottenham have no intention of letting either player go this summer.

With sources claiming that Spurs have decided not to take up the option to sign Carlos Vinicius permanently, it has also been suggested that Roma could make a move for the Brazilian this summer.

Lamela is now the latest Tottenham star who has been linked with a potential reunion with Mourinho in Italy.

The Argentine has previously been linked with a return to Serie A this summer and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold also confirmed that the North Londoners are ready to listen to offers for the attacking midfielder, who has just over 12 months left to run on his contract.

Gazzetta Dello Sport have now revealed that Lamela’s name has been discussed by the Roma hierarchy and claimed that the Tottenham star is keen to return to the club, having loved his time there.

However, it is explained that the Giallorossi have not shown concrete interest in the 29-year-old at the moment.

I can see this move happening as it does not seem like Spurs are likely to offer Lamela a new contract. Mourinho seemed to have a good relationship with the Argentine and the former Spurs boss might be able to convince the 29-year-old to return to the Italian capital.
