Report: Spurs player with 34 appearances this season has been offered to AC Milan

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg thought to be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur this summer, the latest reports from Italy suggest the midfielder could be heading to AC Milan.

Hojbjerg has found himself in an unusual role this season under Ange Postecoglou, with the Dane dropping down the pecking order and having to settle for bit-part appearances and cameos.

Despite making 34 appearances in all competitions, Hojbjerg has played just 1278 minutes (Transfermarkt). That’s an average of only 37 minutes per game, way below his average of 88 minutes per game last season.

Football Insider claimed this week that Tottenham had come to an agreement with Hojbjerg that they would allow him to leave the club this summer as he is unhappy with his involvement.

And, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Serie A side AC Milan have been looking to enter the race for the player.

Are AC Milan having doubts over Hojbjerg?

Now, the latest on the situation comes from CalcioMercato, who claim Hojbjerg has been offered to Milan already. But, there is a belief that the Italian side have some doubts regarding the deal.

It is said AC Milan want a defensive midfielder this summer, with Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana their first choice for the position.

Hojbjerg is an “alternative” for Milan, and they have been offered his services in “recent days” by Tottenham. They are also considering Sofyan Amrabat, who looks set to return to Fiorentina at the end of the season.

However, Milan “do not seem warm to these two possibilities,” due to the age of the players mentioned, and the economic impact of such deals.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hojbjerg would be a good fit for Serie A I think, and I’m sure he’d be keen to join a club like AC Milan. We know he is very keen to play at the top level, in a Champions League club, and AC are all but confirmed for that competition based on their standing in Serie A right now.
