Report: Spurs player would like to extend loan spell away from North London

Super Deporte have claimed that Bryan Gil would like to extend his loan spell at Valencia beyond the end of the season.

After failing to make a single Premier League start for Spurs in the first half of the season following his move from Sevilla last summer, Gil has demonstrated his quality since his move to the Mestalla in January.

The winger admitted that he is happy to be playing regularly at Los Che, labelling his decision to join the club on loan as a ‘great’ one (Jonathan Veal).

Deporte Valenciano reported recently that while Valencia would like to keep Gil at the club beyond the summer, the club cannot afford to sign the winger permanently.

The publication also added that not qualifying for Europe next season could negatively impact their chances of extending the Spurs winger’s loan spell.

According to Super Deporte‘s latest update, the 21-year-old ‘would welcome’ the prospect of continuing at Valencia next season as he is keen to make the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

However, the report adds that whether or not Gil remains at the Mestalla ‘depends on Tottenham’s plans for next season’.

If Conte does not see Gil as an important part of his plans next season, it would suit all parties for the winger’s loan spell at Valencia to be extended. At the very least, it is going to keep the 21-year-old’s market value fairly high, which would not be the case if he is to warm the bench at Spurs.
