Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Emerson Royal’s agent travelled to Italy to meet with representatives from AC Milan ahead of a potential summer transfer for the player.
It has been widely reported by a number of outlets over the last few weeks that Emerson is one of the players who is expected to depart Tottenham early this summer as Ange Postecoglou oversees a major rebuild (Football Insider).
While Milan have been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old, they are not thought to be alone, with Bild claiming last week that the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich are ready to battle Stefano Pioli’s men for the player.
If Di Marzio’s latest update is to be believed, it is Milan who have taken the first step towards signing Emerson, having met with the Tottenham man’s agent.

The report reveals that the Brazilian is one of the top targets for the Rossoneri, with the defenders’ characteristics said to suit what the club are looking for.
However, Di Marzio stresses that what occurred was just ‘a first exploratory meeting’, with a deal to take the right-back to the San Siro far from finalised yet.

One would expect this deal to progress quite quickly as there seems to be a willingness from all three parties to get the transfer completed. I would not be surprised if this move is announced within the first week or two of the transfer window.
