Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in advanced negotiations over a new improved contract for Oliver Skipp, according to Football.London.
The report claims that talks over a new ‘bumper’ deal are set to reach a breakthrough after impressing following his return to the club in the summer.
The 21-year-old impressed while on loan at Norwich City last season, playing a pivotal part in helping the Canaries secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Skipp was given the opportunity to be a regular in the Spurs team this season under Nuno Espirito Santo and continued to keep his place following the appointment of Antonio Conte in November (transfermarkt).
His season has been curtailed by a problematic groin injury which is otherwise known as pubic symphysis which left Conte admitting at Tuesday’s pre-Brighton press conference that both he and the academy graduate are frustrated over the issue (Football.London).
Skipp last signed a four-year contract in July 2020 while Jose Mourinho was in charge with the Portuguese tipping the young midfielder to become a future captain of Tottenham (Sky Sports).

Skipp was one of the few bright points of the Nuno era and hasn’t really had enough of a chance to prove what kind of partnership he could forge with Rodrigo Bentancur in the middle of the park.
Hopefully, the club’s medical team can get to the bottom of the problem and he is back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
