Report: Spurs plotting move for 20-year-old Sunderland starlet

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Sunderland starlet Dan Neil this summer.

Neil has continued developing impressively since making his senior debut for the Black Cats as a 17-year-old back in 2018.

The midfielder was one of the club’s best players in the first half of this campaign and has seven-goal contributions in League One so far (Transfermarkt).

The 20-year-old took home the North East Football Writers’ Association’s young player of the year 2021 on the back of his form.

However, the youngster has been in-and-out of the starting eleven since Alex Neil took over as the new manager at the Stadium of Light in February.

Football Insider have claimed that Spurs are keeping tabs on the Sunderland starlet and could make an offer for him this summer.

The report asserts that the North Londoners could face competition from Crystal Palace and Brighton for Neil’s signature.

Although the youngster is contracted to the Black Cats until 2025, it is suggested that his recent lack of game time could convince the midfielder to leave the club this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have been linked with more EFL starlets ahead of this summer’s transfer window than any time in recent memory. That does not come as a surprise given that the club are close to their maximum allotment of foreign players allowed for European competition, which means they have to look towards the domestic market this summer.
