Report: Spurs plotting summer move for Bundesliga goalkeeper

According to a report from Kicker, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Stuttgart goalkeeper, Gregor Kobel.

After impressing on loan at Stuttgart in the German second tier last season, Kobel completed a permanent move to Mercedes-Benz Arena last summer.

The Swiss goalkeeper has certainly not looked out of place in the Bundesliga this season and if Kicker are to be believed, his performances have caught Tottenham’s attention.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Hugo Lloris’s future over the last couple of months, with the Tottenham captain linked with a return to Ligue 1.

However, some sources claimed at the start of this month that the Frenchman is expected to sign a contract extension at Spurs, which casts doubt over whether the North London club are likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.

Kicker claim that Tottenham are indeed looking at shot-stoppers, with Kobel being one of the options on the club’s radar.

The 23-year-old is said to be ‘getting closer’ to leaving Stuttgart and it is asserted that the German club value him at around €15-20m (£13-£17.3m).
